The Jihad is BattleTech’s darkest and most sweeping modern conflict — a galaxy-spanning war unleashed by the Word of Blake that engulfed every House, Clan, and Periphery power. High-stakes, high-technology, and utterly dramatic, it is the crucible that reforged the entire Inner Sphere and beyond.
Beginning in 3067, the Jihad saw the fanatical Word of Blake launch a campaign of conquest and devastation that drew in every major power and shattered the old order. It was warfare on an unprecedented modern scale, featuring the most advanced technology yet seen — sophisticated OmniMechs, elite battle armor, C3 networks, advanced aerospace, and the cybernetic Manei Domini — alongside desperate coalitions forming to resist the Blakist onslaught. For players, the Jihad offers dramatic, everything-on-the-table conflict: cutting-edge equipment, strange new weapons, and the spectacle of former enemies uniting against a common threat. Its resolution cleared the way for Devlin Stone’s Republic of the Sphere and a new age. The Jihad is an era of high drama and high technology, where heroism and sacrifice shine against the setting’s most sweeping war. To play here is to fight in the conflict that ended one age and began another, wielding some of the most advanced forces in the game.
