Draconis Combine

Founded in 2319 by Shiro Kurita and ruled from Luthien by the Coordinator of House Kurita, the Draconis Combine is among the largest and most disciplined of the Successor States. Its fusion of bushido tradition and heavy industry has made “the Dragon” a benchmark for military professionalism.

The Draconis Combine has been governed by House Kurita since its founding, with authority flowing from the Coordinator — whose word is law — through a highly ordered society that blends a code of honor derived from bushido with formidable industrial and military capacity. That order is the Combine’s core strength: few realms match the discipline, cohesion, and sustained martial focus of the Dragon. The Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery (DCMS) is the instrument of that focus. Its most storied formations, the Sword of Light regiments, carry battle honors spanning centuries as the Coordinator’s elite shock troops; the Otomo serve as household guard, and the Internal Security Force (ISF) ranks among the Inner Sphere’s most effective intelligence arms. Combine industry — anchored by concerns such as Luthien Armor Works — keeps the DCMS supplied with proven designs including the Panther, Dragon, Grand Dragon, and Jenner. The modern Combine owes much to the reforms of Theodore Kurita, whose modernization of DCMS doctrine, technology, and officer culture elevated the realm to first-rank status and broadened opportunity within its ranks. Combine culture prizes loyalty, discipline, and craftsmanship, and its aesthetic traditions — from unit heraldry to reverence for the katana — give the faction a distinctive, deeply developed identity. In the ilClan era the Dragon is resurgent, reclaiming worlds along its coreward frontier and reasserting itself as a major power.

Why command the Dragon

Because few forces look or feel this good on the table. You field honor-bound regulars, elite Sword of Light shock regiments, and ISF special operations under one of BattleTech’s most striking crimson- and-black identities — an army built to seize the initiative, press the duel, and never let go. The Combine brings a thousand years of tradition and a resurgent, victorious present to every match.
