AngryButler with a KNIFE!

17 August 2014, 03:44:49 Last Edit: 03 September 2017, 14:18:26 by AngryButler with a KNIFE!
Inspired by the sheer balls-to-the-wall awesomeness that is the real-life Wiesel II. Barely larger then a compact car, but that thing has more loadouts then even a Hell's Horses clansman would know what to do with. Thus this little toy came rolling out of my head.

Yes, it has thirteen configurations. Fourteen if you count the 'empty/dry' config.
EDIT: Now up to 19 configurations. Read further down to see more.

I'll be honest, I love this thing.   It's tiny and versatile and having a nice speed without losing too much.   Very nice design.
"Any sufficiently rigorously defined magic is indistinguishable from technology."  - Larry Niven... far too appropriate at times here.

...but sometimes making sure you turn their ace into red paste is more important than friends.

Do not offend the chair leg of truth.  It is wise and terrible.

The GM is only right for as long as the facts back him up.

I have just two objections...

105 XLFE: a 120 would weight the same and up speed to 8/12.

FF armor instead of HFF: From the configs it's a post-Jihad XLFE tank. Not using HFF is way cheap!

Also, it needs a config with a LL and a SPL! :)

HFF takes up another free slot. At this scale, with the XLFE I only have 4 slots available using FF. HFF drops it to 3 slots. A good chunk of the configurations would no longer work.

And the 7/11 to 8/12 didn't work when I tried it in SAW. I'll check again later though.

I did do the LL/SPL config however, so I'll update with it shortly. Along with a MRM10 config and an iNarc. Yes the iNarc will only have one ton of ammo, but you have to admit that being able to spam these things almost like SvhMstr candy would make for a nightmare.

Ah, I forgot the XLFE takes two slots. But the engine upgrade should work. 120 SFE is 4 tons, so an XLFE should be 2 (3) tons.

Anyway, here's a Wiesel I to your II (built as a 3060 design). :)

I don't tend to go omni, much... but I do field a 15 ton 7/11 tracked tank with a light PPC and a small Pulse Laser in the turret .....

People tend to get upset when I attack like a school of rabid chihuahuas.........

Since it came up in the AFV pic thread...

A 5-ton tracked clantech omnitank built with fractional accounting, 45 XLFE for 9/14 speed, 1.25 tons FF armor (5/5/4/5), 0.25 ton turret, 2 tons pod space (4 slots).

2xERML
MPL
ERML, 2xMiPL
LRM5 w/ 24 rounds
2xSRM2 w/ 50 rounds
ERML, ECM
ERML, LAP, LTAG
ERML, 1 ton infantry/cargo

Lots of fun to be had! :D

Heh, cute. *yoinks*

But can it do 18 configs like my Wiesel?

Sure. But it won't be 18 useful configs... ;) I mean, 4xERSL, 3xERSL+MiPL, 2xERSL+2xMiPL... ;D

But I didn't bother to look at support equipment - a Bulldozer or a medium Bridgelayer are both 2 tons. :)

As the original designer for this, would anyone still be interested if I *did* go through and design a Wiesel XII IIC?

Also, just realized after all this time, that I'd forgotten to add in a MedVSPL variant configuration. The shame of it.......

Technically, you just make the weapons clantech such as swapping Magshot for AP Gauss.. the Thunderbolt sounds better @ either SLRM5  and .5 cargo or triple LRM5. Maybe a Plasma Cannon + paired Micro Pulse for that LPPC and Cap. combo... Med VSPL = Med iHvy +  Med Chem-ammo?

Thing is almost all your configs can be translated easily. Suggestion...

Clean up your configs by giving both Clan and IS variants, along with a letter... Prime-S? Including cargo/dry in there. As is, it is a mighty little tank with a big bite!

(PS: maybe erase modify your first posting to replace with suggestion. Leaving room to add later.  8)

I thought I'd gain an extra equipment/weapon slot due to going from a Inner Sphere XL engine, to a Clantech engine? And a further slot due to using Clantech Ferro-Fibrous.

Some of the configs weren't limited so much by tonnage, but by my lack of sufficient slots to put things into.

Yes, the obvious alternative ammo would be inferno rounds for the SRM-2, if you want. And unlike the Ignis, this thing actually is actually useful beyond simply melting infantry.
