The madness has not yet turned loose of me. In related news, the more I use MML, the more I dislike it.

Overview:
The Clan-variant Triumph first flew in 2845, based on development by Clan Hell's Horses to reduce what they felt was wasted cargo tonnage when flying their existing Star-League spec Triumphs as single-trinary transports. Other Clans, particularly Clan Silver Ant, modified their own Triumph class production to follow the example, even if actual production rights were rarely sought. By 2900, the Triumph C was the standard and unquestioned way to transport combat vehicles in the Kerensky Cluster.

Capabilities:
The Triumph C is a five-thousand ton aerodyne dropship with a maximum acceleration of two and a half standard gravities. Lightly armored and modestly armed, its main duty is the delivery of a full trinary of heavy armored combat vehicles, something it accomplishes with aplomb.

Deployment:
The Triumph C is ubiquitous throughout the toumans of every Clan, but most production comes from the Hell's Horses or Bone Vultures.

Valles

Obviously I actually designed this around the Silver Ants and their conviction that XLFEs are a waste of money, but I didn't want them to be too prolific in designing things other than vehicles, so I assigned them only one of the three omnifighter designs I have in mind so far.

...MML makes Omnis much more annoying to work with than the Solaris series, by the way.

Overview
Clan Star Adder developed the Cherokee with a single precept in mind: to build a cheaper Avar. To the extent that that was a useful thing to have, they succeeded, but outside of those clans, like the Goliath Scorpions, that shared their resource limitations - and thus could buy only a few of the craft - the only export customer they found were the Silver Ants, who were positively enthusiastic and paid generously for the production rights.

Capabilities
A 280 standard fusion torch gives the thirty-five ton Cherokee a maximum acceleration of seven and a half gravities, comparable to the earlier Avar, but, with four tons of reaction mass standard, leaves only twelve tons to distribute evenly between pod space and ferro-aluminum armor.

The Cherokee Prime is armed for short-range engagements with a single nose-mounted ER medium laser and six-tube short range missile racks in either wing, each with its own ton of reloads.

The Cherokee A is dedicated to destroying other interceptors, mounting a single highly accurate large pulse laser in the nose as its only weapon system.

Configuration B is preferred for long-range supporting fire; it mounts an LRM5 rack in either wing, feeding from a shared ton of ammunition, and a medium pulse laser in the nose.

The Cherokee C does carry an ER medium laser in its nose as a self-defense weapon, but its primary duty is the delivery of a point of Elemental battle armor using the cargo pods fixed to its fuselage.

Deployment
By the 3060s even Clan Star Adder had mostly replaced their Cherokees, relegating surviving units to essentially second-line duties, but Clan Silver Ant continued to deploy it as one of their three primary omnifighters on the strength of its affordable standard fusion engine.

History
In 3072, a civilian Inner Sphere jumpship entered the Omsk system and deployed a single lance of aerospace fighters, who identified themselves as militia from the Ani'tsutsa system in the Pleiades and issued a Batchall over the rights to, specifically, the Cherokee's name, as they represented a community of the Cherokee people who did not wish their name associated with a course of brazen conquest.

Star Colonel Hiram Sakai honored their request by deploying a flight of Cherokee Primes. While none of the four fighter craft deployed survived, one of the militia pilots lived long enough to be recovered by rescue craft before dying and Sakai judged the militia the victors, and redesignated their omnifighters as Kesh class, after the birthplace of Tamerlane. Clan Hell's Horses fought, and won, a hard-fought cluster-level trial to prevent the redesignation from being taken up by other clans.

MWBookwyrm

Nice work. It reminds me of the Chaeronea, though the Chaeronea is 10 tons lighter, more maneuverable, and is a standard fighter. They can even carry similar payloads, as the Chaeronea's only weapon is an ER PPC.

Valles

The Chaeronea was actually directly in my mind when I put the design together, in that I knew that six tons was the pod space I wanted. Given the SFE I figured I couldn't reasonably get more than 10/15 without some very serious compromises, and the Clan-standard 4t fuel tank was already kind of minimal, which just left tweaking the base mass to get a good armor loadout. I came very close to fitting one config or another with an ERPPC, but I eventually decided that I only wanted a single Big Nose Gun config and the LPL was both better for hunting other interceptors and, well - the Chaeronea already exists.

In similar fashion, the Visigoth and Scytha already exist, and I didn't let that stop me from designing SFE echoes of them, but I didn't want the configurations to rhyme more than they had to.

MWBookwyrm

Neat! Though I will note that the Chaeronea already had a standard fusion engine and instead chose to have very low armor to fit it's loadout. Though I think the Cherokee is a better replacement for the Chaeronea than the Bashkir is. About the only way the Bashkir is better than the Chaeronea is that it's an omnifighter. The Cherokee is a better replacement (in my eyes) because it's an improvement in pretty much every way, justifying the price hike.

I'm tempted to also try to create a SFE echo of another Clan ASF, but I don't know the timeline on that. I mainly need to figure out a role that isn't covered by these three.

Valles

The Kirghiz comes to mind first for me, but the Sulla is also right there, along with an 8/12 bird of some kind. Some kind of very light, very vast interceptor would have potential, a Thrush or Seydlitz equivalent, inasmuch as the Chaeronea isn't already.

Valles

MML decided to randomly eat half my fluff midway through this.

Overview
Clan Cloud Cobra debuted the Tuareg in 2901 in the confident expectation that they would soon solve the balance issues that forced the use of a standard fusion engine and be able to make the platform their primary omnifighter in the near future. The introduction of the Visigoth almost half a century later found the issue unresolved, and the Cobras entirely abandoned development and support of a craft they had expended considerable effort to keep as a private signature.

Capabilities
The Tuareg is a 55-ton omni-fighter whose 275 standard fusion engine gives it a maximum acceleration of five and a half standard gravities. Protection comes from a substantial thirteen point five tons of advanced ferro-aluminum composite armor, and four tons of reaction mass leave nineteen tons of allotable pod space. As an older design, it amost entirely segregates spaceframe components from pod space; the latter is a literal ventral pod cradled to the underside of the spaceframe.

The Tuareg Prime is a capable mixed-role combatant that mounts an ER medium laser in each wing, along with a third in the nose. The nose also holds a medium pulse laser and the fighter's main gun, a mighty gauss rifle with two tons of ammunition.

Configuration A is a missile-based configuration. While it retains the wing lasers of the Prime and adds a third in the tail, the nose battery has been replaced with a pair of LRM20 racks with Artemis IV fire control. The four remaining tons of pod space are devoted to LRM ammunition.

The Tuareg B is also missile-based, but it omits the tail laser and converts the wing mounts to highly accurate pulse weapons, while replacing the LRMs with four Streak SRM6 launchers supplied by a shared three-ton ammunition bay to create a formidable strike platform.

Configuration C, while capable at anti-aerospace and strafing work, is primarily focused on endurance. Its armament consists solely of a pair of nose-mounted extended-range particle projection cannons, but it supports them with five additional heat sinks and two additional tons of reaction mass to create a platform that will comfortably outlast any of its competitors.

Finally, the Tuareg D was originally designed as a supplement to the B in the direct strike role; with an active probe and ER medium lasers in the wings in support, its role and primary firepower are explicit in the nose-mounted Ultra-20 assault autocannon, a weapon ideal for opening holes in the armor of large units for the B's SRMs to exploit.

Deployment
While the Tuareg has been largely superseded by the itself-now-venerable Visigoth, a significant number are still found in the service of Clan Cloud Cobra, second only to the prolific use by Clan Silver Ant. Poorer Clans like the Goliath Scorpions, Fire Mandrills, and Blood Spirits are also forced to settle for the relatively affordable platform.

History
Clan Smoke Jaguar forces in the Kelang system became convinced in 3069 that one or several Tuareg omnifighters had been captured by insurgents and were being treacherously concealed from rightful recovery. By the time the confusion was discovered, punitive actions had wiped out the Kelang Tuareg tribes, ending the last unbroken cultural tradition of that people and leaving their languages and practices in the hands of reconstruction or revivalist movements and the Combine's Azami.

Quote from: Valles on 04 October 2026, 22:42:53The Kirghiz comes to mind first for me, but the Sulla is also right there, along with an 8/12 bird of some kind. Some kind of very light, very vast interceptor would have potential, a Thrush or Seydlitz equivalent, inasmuch as the Chaeronea isn't already.

I think I can do the 8-12 bird, though its not riffing off of any existing specific fighter. I've actually dialed back the speed somewhat, as the original idea was actually going 9-14 (but had to make sacrifices to do it).

Also, I apologize for truncating the summaries of each config after the first. I figured the info didn't need to be repeated.

Background
Starting as a standard Aerospace fighter christened the Alexander, controversy and confusion over the fighter's name being associated with the Clan founder, rather than the Macedonian conqueror, led to the fighter and it's name being scaled back. This proved prudent however, as it allowed the somewhat aimless fighter to be retooled into a small but still nimble Omnifighter.

The Alex Prime is a fast close-range interceptor that uses high speed and a array of laser weaponry to tear apart targets. A pair of Medium Pulse Lasers in the nose provide reliable accurate fire supplemented by a ER Medium and ER Small Laser in each wing. It even boasts a rear-mouted ER Medium Laser to ward off persuers. While powerful, a full frontal barrage does tax the Alex's heat sinks, so caution is advised whole using it.

Another deadly interceptor and potential ground attacker, the Alex A relies on a SRM 6 in each wing supported by a NARC missile beacon in the Nose. However, it's effectiveness is limited by having only one ton of ammo for each weapon. Deployments of the A configuration are often prove to be brief and intense.

The B configuration is another missile-based attacker. This time aiming for long range, the Alex B's primary weapon is a LRM 15 with Artemis IV attached. Two tons of ammo give it better endurance than the A configuration, but if the missiles do run dry the B can rely on a Nose-mounted ER Medium Laser and a Aft-mounted ER Small Laser to continue the fight.

The Alex C returns to a laser focused loadout, it's main weapon is a Targeting Computer enhanced ER Large Laser. With this it can pick off other interceptors from range before the dogfighting begins, giving the Alex an edge. Almost as an afterthought, four ER Small Lasers are mounted, two aft and one on each wing.

Deployment:
While one of the first Omnifighters, the Alex was never able to gain a foothold in Clan Tolmans before other omnifighters arrived. Often accused of being too slow, but still considered to valuable for Solama forces, surviving examples of the Alex have ended up as reserve units, training aircraft, and the occasional source of spare parts.

History
While rarely seeing combat, the Alex has found a use among the clans as a bidding tool, usually being the first Aerospace asset bid away, only really seeing "combat" when a challenge is a formality. Tech crews often joke that the hardest battle it has ever fought in is trying to procure spare parts for the Alex,as its ancient nature (by clan standards) and short period of production make any non-standard parts hard to come by.

Hope the lore blurbs were good, I came up with them on the fly.

Valles

Eight tons of pod space on a 25t SFE bird? Ye gods. That feels exactly like what the Clans would do. So yeah, adopted. I like it!

Thanks! Feel free to edit the lore as needed, I'm not overly attached to it.

I actually designed this one in reverse. I had a configuration in mind I wanted to try and fit (The NARC + SRM configuration) so I started there, marked down the 3 tons for controls, then fiddled with engines and armor until I either didn't have the tonnage for the engine or ended up with less that 3-ish tons of armor. Once I got to the point that worked, I designed the other 3 configurations.
